Image Xprezzion Barber College located in Oakland County, Oak Park, Michigan was established to support project such as second chance and provide skilled trade training to incarcerated after release. This saves the State about $38,000.00 a year per inmate while investing just $15,000.00 for the completion of the program. Upon graduation, the candidate will be fully self-employed earning between $1000 and $1500.00 per week, able to pay taxes and take care of family. Also, being engaged in self-employment will deter unlawful activity that may return to prison. Enrollment is ongoing and students receive free tuition or portion of the tuition waived.

Our vision is that every offender released from prison will have the tools needed to succeed in the community and the opportunity to utilize those tools to be employed/self-employed, productive, self-sufficient citizens.

Our Mission is to reduce crime by implementing a seamless plan of services, supervision, skilled training and opportunities developed with each offender and delivered through state, regional and national collaboration with the goal of obtaining employment and self-sufficiency.
The mission is accomplished by providing skilled trade training to meet the identified needs of returning offenders, thereby reducing their risk of recidivism and enhancing their employment opportunities. Proposals include limiting the length of incarceration for offenders who violate their probation and creating a more intensive parole program — an approach that supporters said is smarter and cheaper than automatically returning offenders to prison when they they misstep, which costs an average of $34,000 a year per inmate. Senators also voted to officially define what recidivism means and to require the Michigan Department of Corrections to house prisoners ages 18 to 22 together instead of with older inmates. Another measure calls for the state to pay up to $7,200 a year to employers who hire people on probation or parole.
