We receive calls from clients to provide window coverings.  We visit clients in their homes and provide samples for them to choose from.  We measure their window dimesions and provide them with a quote. They proceed with the order (usually) and we offer installation services with that quote.  We operate a franchise in Fort McMurray and our sales have been very good.  It is a business that you can take a vacation from, as you manage your own time.  We purchased the rights to the Northern Territories of Alberta as we felt it was a great business to get into as this American franchise starts its expansion into Canada.  It has been a great experience for us and we look forward to providing our expertise in Alberta with those interested.  We started with no experience in this field.

Facilities:

This is an outstanding home based business with a small footprint in the home with all the deductions of a small business. Partial rent or mortgage plus expenses for phone, fax, cable, computer, etc. There is almost no inventory needed.

Competition:

This industry is not formally organized as large retail outlets can only provide generic blinds of standard sizes without any expertise or support. Home consultation is the most effective method of sales delivery. Online sales have increased over the years but it is limited in the ability of a client to see/feel what they may get without installation and little product support or warranty.

Growth Potential:

The growth potential is very good. The main competition is Budget Blinds. They have a similar business model; however, they have a large chain/advertising network supporting their business. Their territories have largely been sold out due to their effectiveness and have limited growth potential. Gotcha Covered is a much smaller franchise and has a smaller royalty that is very manageable. Another benefit to Gotcha Covered is that it is only in the past few years that it has been in Alberta and there are now 6 franchises with the Calgary area being sold out. Gotcha Covered has a proprietary computer system. We have employed some selling strategies that have worked very well for us in this area. Very few businesses can be started for less than $60,000. Low risk, high return.

Training/Support:

Gotcha Covered has great corporate training & support with the ease of being able to get ahold of people on the phone. In addition to 2 weeks full training so that you are able to succeed right from the start. We offer the ability to attend real sales calls to see what we actually do from beginning to end. This includes installatons, billing, book keeping, etc. There are other incentives offered by the franchise and by us for interested parties.
