The Owl & the Pussycat was established in 2006 by the current owner as Tamworth's Boutique School of Dance and is the only selective classical ballet school in New England. The business services a growing niche market and is regarded as the regions premier dance school. It currently operates Monday to Saturday, with all classes taught by the Principal and owner. The schools 80 students are aged between 3.5 – 17 years, with most attending private primary and secondary schools. All students enrolled demonstrate natural ability, commitment, discipline and determination to achieve to their potential. The selection process has ensured a focused and productive school dynamic. All families sign conditions of enrolment which clearly outline the level of commitment expected at the school and in this capacity, the school has a very low turnover rate and high level of discipline and ballet school etiquette. Classical ballet is compulsory at the school with the majority of students enrolled in all classes available to their age group, which include Jazz, Contemporary, Modern Dance and Limber/Conditioning. The school facilities are unique. The premises is conveniently located within a lifestyle complex in an affluent area of town. The designer interior is an inspirational space and celebration of all things beautiful, feminine and glamorous. The school has a dancewear boutique which sells all uniform, footwear and accessories, as well as gift lines. Amenities include reception, 2 beautifully appointed lounge areas, student dressing area complete with cubicles, kitchenette, bathroom, costume and production storage. The main studio has a fully sprung, heat sealed vinyl dancefloor, over 8 metres of full length mirrors, wall mounted Denon sound system and Aaron speakers, 3 commercial reverse-cycle air-conditioning units, several portable barres and tumbling mat. The 2nd studio has a 110m2 dance floor, full length mirrors and Sony sound system. School buses drop off at the front of the complex and plenty of parking is available at the door, including 3 marked Staff car parks. The school's annual production is part of the season at Tamworth's state of the art Capitol Theatre. No other dance school in the region has this privilege. The annual production is renowned for showcasing talent, inspired choreography, magnificent costumes and a professional level of performance which has made it highly anticipated and well patronised by the broader community, not just the friends and family of performers. The Principal is an accomplished seamstress and all costumes in the wardrobe are beautifully made and maintained. The school competes in regional eisteddfods at an extremely high standard, with great success. Tremendous opportunity exists to expand the business. The current owner focussed solely on providing the regions highest quality dance education to selected students, teaching all classes personally. A second member of Staff would generate income through the use of the second studio and capitalise on the leisure market, which is not currently being targeted. The current owner has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of rheumatoid arthritis and wishes to retire at the peak of her career, having built a legacy of passion, dedication and quality. The quality of training has meant that all current vocational students aspire to careers as professional dancers so no succession plan is available! This is genuinely a regrettable sale, and the Principal is searching for a new owner who wishes to continue the legacy of quality teaching at the school. The Principal will be available to assist the new owners with a smooth transition as she has made Tamworth her forever home. Interested parties are encouraged to visit the school's website www.oandpdance.com.au, and contact the Principal on 0439 419 428 or at email@example.com.
